Student Leadership & Involvement is home to many involvement and leadership opportunities, including the Associated Students of the University of Utah (ASUU), your student government. Many SLI staff serve as advisors to ASUU Student Leaders and support them in accomplishing their goals while in office. All enrolled students are automatically a member of ASUU, as enrolled students pay the Student Activity Fee.
STUDENT LEADERSHIP COUNCIL
ASUU is responsible for coordinating the Student Leadership Council. This group is composed of student leaders from across campus, including student leaders from Recognized Student Organizations (RSO’s). The Council meetings are held monthly, and are open to the public. The Council’s purpose is to collaborate in programming and events, and to promote a sense of community among university student leaders. Additionally, the Council also serves as a collaboration point between SLI, ASUU, and RSO’s. If your Student Organization wishes to be represented on the Council or attend a meeting, please mail info@asuu.utah.edu
ASUU INVOLVEMENT & LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Student Government is a great place to seek involvement and leadership opportunities! There are a variety of opportunities for students from all academic disciplines, backgrounds, and schedules. Any student can pursue involvement as a board member (volunteer) within ASUU’s Executive Cabinet or are welcome to sign up as a volunteer for large events like speakers, concerts, and other programs. For students who might be looking to stay involved all year, there are a variety of leadership positions (both elected and appointed) that are worth exploring! These elected and appointed positions come with a variety of compensation, tuition waivers, or scholarships. ASUU student leaders are advised and supported by SLI staff and are not expected to navigate their roles alone.
