Recognized Student Organization
Starting a New Recognized Student Organization
To start a new Recognized Student Organization (RSO), students must provide:
- Three matriculated student officers.
- A constitution that follows the University's template.
- A logo or profile photo that complies with branding guidelines.
Things to know:
- Review University Rules 6-401A and 6-401B.
- All RSOs start in the Registered Classification, if you would like to move into Sponsored or an Affiliated Sports Club, please reach out to [email protected]
- Look through Campus Connect clubs to make sure that a similar organization does not exist.

Each RSO falls into one of three classifications:

Required Training
Bystander Intervention Training: Mandatory for at least three officers, per Senate Bill 134.

1) Each summer, fall, and spring semester, the SLI team hosts their RSO Advisor & Sponsoring Department Townhalls. During these online meetings, advisors and sponsoring departments have key updates shared with them, presentations from key services on campus that impact and support RSOs, and create a space for collective problem solving and support.
